The games blog I always wanted to write

I have a suspicion that a race between the third-to-tenth, or maybe fourth-to-eleventh, placed runners in the world would have a fighting shot at featuring eight sub-10s - there's got to be a "blown away" effect, at least for those who finish in the bottom half, where you don't give it 100% when you can see out of the side of your eye that you're four metres behind Bolt. A much closer race, even without the two top stars, would surely see everyone truly give it 100% to the end. I wouldn't like this to be true, but I suspect it is.
